WARDOGS Early Access Is Almost Here: The Unit Launch Checklist

Steam Early Access for WARDOGS opens September 10, 2026. If your unit has been watching the betas, the wishlist climb, and the “is this milsim or Battlefield with homework?” debates, this is the week you decide how you’re showing up.

This isn’t another feature list. It’s a practical launch checklist for organized groups: what WARDOGS actually is, how to set expectations with your roster, and how to get discovered by players hunting for a WARDOGS unit on MilSim Units.

The 100K moment (why units should care)

The first closed beta clearing 100,000+ concurrent on Steam wasn’t just a vanity number — SteamDB put the peak at 105,774, which topped the all-time PC concurrent highs for Squad, Hell Let Loose, and Arma. BULKHEAD had been planning capacity around roughly 5,000 concurrents. That gap is the story: demand for organized, large-scale tactical FPS is real, and a flood of players will be hunting for a unit that isn’t random pubs.

The second beta went even higher (reports put the peak near 245k). Important caveat for your Discord pitch: those betas used a free Playtest client. Early Access is a $39.99 purchase, so EA-day population will almost certainly cool from the beta spikes. Treat 100K as proof of interest — not a promise that every Friday night will look like beta weekend.

For units, that still means launch week is a recruiting window. List WARDOGS on your profile before the rush.

Bonus: the WARDOGS $100K clip contest

BULKHEAD is running a real $100K clip contest through wardogs100k.com — this is free marketing (and a recruiting hook) for units that clip well.

Prizes (as announced):

  • #1 clip: $100,000 real cash
  • Top 100 clips: the other 99 get $100,000 in-game cash each

How to enter:

  1. Capture a clip (max 2 minutes) — funny, skillful, heroic, chaotic, “only in WARDOGS”
  2. Post it on X, YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram with #WARDOGS100k and tag @WARDOGS and @Milsimunits (not required for us to be there, just extra PR)
  3. Submit the URL via the form on wardogs100k.com

Dates: Contest opened Sep 3, 2026 · submissions close Oct 8, 2026 at 23:59 BST · winners announced on/after Oct 15, 2026. Country restrictions apply — read the official terms.

Unit play: Pin a Discord channel for clip submissions, assign one person to hashtag/post correctly, and use strong clips in your MilSim Units listing + socials. Recruiting pitch writes itself: “stack with us, chase the $100K.”

What WARDOGS is (and isn’t) for milsim units

Set this expectation with your members before night one:

It is: large-scale tactical FPS with combined arms, construction/destruction, a match cash economy that punishes dumb deaths, and three-team chaos where coordination matters.

It is not: Arma Reforger with ORBATs, radio nets, and multi-hour planned ops baked into the ruleset. Think of it as sitting between Battlefield-scale fights and Squad-style teamwork — with enough systems for units to build SOPs, but not a full milsim sandbox.

Units that sell “hardcore realism WARDOGS” will churn recruits. Units that sell “organized tactics in a chaotic 100-player sandbox” will keep them.

For players looking for a WARDOGS unit

If you’re not standing up a unit, you’re trying to join one:

  1. Open milsimunits.com/gamesWARDOGS
  2. Prefer units that already list schedule, age policy, and mic requirements
  3. Ask how they run, their leadership (you want an answer, not vibes)
  4. Be honest about attendance, launch-week ghosts kill units

New to milsim structure overall? Pair this with our directory search tips and unit profile guides linked from the blog — filters beat doomscrolling Discord invites.

Bottom line

WARDOGS Early Access on September 10 is a recruiting event as much as a game launch. The units that win aren’t the ones with the fanciest ORBAT graphic — they’re the ones with a clear pitch, a clean MilSim Units listing, and a simple plan for cash, mics, and chaos.

List your unit. Set expectations. Stack up.

Stay tactical.
